IFA 2024: Every Device Is Now an AI Device — Berlin’s Biggest Show in Years

IFA 2024 Berlin AI consumer electronics

IFA 2024 descends on Berlin with a singular theme: every device is now an AI device. After years of incremental progress, the integration of on-device artificial intelligence into consumer electronics has crossed a threshold — and IFA 2024 is where it becomes undeniably mainstream.

Samsung debuted its 2025 AI home appliance roadmap, with refrigerators featuring Bespoke AI that learn household rhythms, washing machines with AI-powered load recognition and cycle optimisation, and a new AI HomeConnect hub that orchestrates everything from a single interface. LG’s ThinQ AI ecosystem received major updates, with the Alpha 12 processor enabling faster on-device inference across the entire connected home.

Qualcomm’s IFA presence was its strongest yet: showcasing Snapdragon X Elite-powered Windows laptops from Asus, HP, Lenovo, and Dell with live Copilot+ PC demonstrations. The company’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 powered devices also featured prominently in the mobile hall. Cristiano Amon’s vision of connected intelligence at every edge was visible in nearly every booth.

On sustainability: EU Energy Label A+++ compliance dominated home appliances, with multiple brands committing to extended repairability timelines under the EU’s Right to Repair directive. IFA 2024 is the green-tech edition.
