Apple’s “It’s Glowtime” event brought the iPhone 16 series, and the headline is clear: this is the first iPhone designed from the ground up for Apple Intelligence, the company’s on-device AI platform. The A18 chip and its 16-core Neural Engine are purpose-built for running AI models locally, with performance that outclasses competing mobile chips in AI-specific benchmarks.
Apple Intelligence features rolling out this fall include Writing Tools (AI rewriting across all apps), Priority Notifications that summarise your inbox, AI-powered Smart Reply, and a dramatically upgraded Siri that now integrates with on-screen context and third-party apps via App Intents. Image Playground and Genmoji let you create AI-generated images and custom emoji in any app.
The iPhone 16 Pro adds a 5x tetraprism zoom to the standard Pro model (previously only the Pro Max), 4K 120fps Dolby Vision video recording, and the new Camera Control button. The Action Button from the iPhone 15 Pro now comes to all four models.
Starting at $799 for the base iPhone 16, this is the most AI-capable iPhone lineup ever. Apple Intelligence makes every reason to upgrade compelling.
