IFA 2023 opens in Berlin with AI integration front and centre across every product category. From AI-enhanced washing machines to Snapdragon-powered Windows laptops, the message from the Messe Berlin show floor is unambiguous: artificial intelligence is no longer a premium feature — it’s the baseline expectation.
Samsung led the home appliance narrative with its Bespoke AI range, featuring smart refrigerators that track expiry dates, AI ovens with automatic recipe recognition, and washing machines that detect fabric type and optimise each cycle. Miele and Bosch followed with comparable connected home solutions. The smart kitchen is finally becoming real, not just promised.
Qualcomm’s IFA presence highlighted the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 in Windows PCs and previewed the coming Snapdragon X series — generating significant industry excitement ahead of the formal Copilot+ PC announcement expected in 2024. MediaTek used IFA to announce expanded 5G AIoT partnerships across European smart home manufacturers.
On wearables, Sony’s new WF-1000XM5 earbuds set a new ANC benchmark. Garmin announced expanded health monitoring features for its sports watches. And Philips Hue unveiled a new Matter-compatible smart lighting ecosystem.
