Qualcomm’s push into the PC market accelerates in 2025 with the Snapdragon X Plus hitting a new wave of mid-range and mainstream Windows laptops. After dominating premium Copilot+ PCs with the Snapdragon X Elite in 2024, Qualcomm is now bringing on-device AI performance to sub-$1,000 devices — democratising a category that was previously only accessible at $1,200+.
Devices like the Microsoft Surface Pro 11 with Snapdragon X Plus, the ASUS Vivobook S 15, and the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x have all landed to strong reviews. Battery life of 18-22 hours in productivity workloads is consistently outpacing Intel and AMD competitors. The 45 TOPS NPU handles AI-accelerated tasks in Recall, live captions, Cocreator in Paint, and an expanding library of AI-enhanced Windows apps.
The competitive picture for Intel and AMD is challenging. While Intel Lunar Lake and AMD Ryzen AI 300 series offer competitive AI performance, neither matches Snapdragon X’s battery efficiency in thin-and-light form factors. Qualcomm’s PC market share is growing fast.
For the first time in decades, the Wintel duopoly faces a genuine architectural challenge from a third player. 2025 is Qualcomm’s year on PC.
