Nothing CEO Carl Pei has officially confirmed that the Nothing Phone (2) is in development and targeting a summer 2023 launch. In a community update, Pei revealed that the Phone (2) will be a “significant step up” from its predecessor — notably, it will target the premium segment rather than the mid-range, suggesting a flagship-tier chipset is on the table.
The Nothing Phone (1) built a passionate following with its transparent back and Glyph Interface LED notification system, but was held back by a Snapdragon 778G chip that felt underpowered for its ambitions. The Phone (2) is expected to address this directly, with strong rumours pointing to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 or potentially the 8 Gen 2.
Nothing is also confirming US availability for the Phone (2) — a market where the Phone (1) never officially launched. This is a significant expansion of the brand’s reach and a statement of confidence. Nothing OS is also maturing rapidly, with Android 13 and regular updates demonstrating a genuine software commitment.
The Nothing Phone (2) is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated mid-2023 launches. The Glyph Interface 2.0 alone has us intrigued.
