Meta Launches Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 Smart Glasses With Doubled Battery Life and 3K Video

Meta unveiled the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 smart glasses at Connect 2025 on September 18, delivering significant improvements over the original model that became the world’s best-selling AI glasses.

The second generation features up to eight hours of battery life—nearly double the original—and a redesigned charging case providing an additional 48 hours of power. The improved 12-megapixel camera now captures 3K Ultra HD video at 60 frames per second with HDR support, more than doubling the pixel count from Gen 1.

Meta enhanced AI capabilities across the board. Live translation now supports German and Portuguese alongside existing languages, enabling real-time conversations even offline with downloaded language packs. A new Conversation Focus feature uses AI to amplify voices in noisy environments, cutting through ambient background noise.

The glasses maintain the classic Ray-Ban aesthetic in Wayfarer, Skyler, and Headliner styles, with pricing starting at $379—or $299 for remaining Gen 1 inventory. Availability includes the US, Canada, UK, and most existing markets immediately, with Mexico, India, and Brazil following later in fall 2025.

Software updates rolling out this fall will add hyperlapse and slow-motion video capture to all Meta smart glasses, including Gen 1 models, demonstrating Meta’s commitment to improving existing devices alongside new releases.
