Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Is the Adventure Game We Deserved

MachineGames delivered something genuinely surprising with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, launched December 6, 2024. The Swedish studio behind Wolfenstein brought the same sense of cinematic craftsmanship to gaming’s most beloved archaeologist, and the result is the best Indiana Jones experience in any medium outside the original trilogy films.

Set between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade, the game puts Indy on the trail of a global mystery centered on a series of sacred sites aligned in a geometric pattern — the Great Circle. The first-person perspective is a bold, effective choice: it makes every punch, whip crack, and environmental puzzle feel immediate and personal. The globe-trotting adventure hits Egypt, Thailand, the Vatican, and beyond with lavish attention to period detail.

Todd Howard’s involvement as executive producer and the voice casting of Troy Baker (channeling Harrison Ford with uncanny fidelity) ground the experience in authenticity. Puzzles lean into Indy’s professor side as much as his action-hero persona, creating a tonal balance the franchise has always aspired to.

Available on Xbox Series X|S and PC (with Game Pass day one), Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a statement game for Xbox’s first-party slate. bethesda.net
