Computex 2023 in Taipei opened with a clear signal: AI is the new CPU race. Intel, AMD, NVIDIA, Qualcomm, and MediaTek all led with AI-accelerated computing announcements, marking a fundamental shift in how the PC industry positions its products.

Intel’s keynote previewed Meteor Lake — the company’s first tiled architecture laptop chip, featuring an integrated NPU for on-device AI workloads. AMD showed off the Ryzen AI 300 series with XDNA2 architecture, delivering up to 50 TOPS of AI performance. NVIDIA dominated the data centre narrative with its H100 NVLink and unveiled the GeForce RTX 4060 series for mainstream gamers.

Qualcomm was present with Snapdragon X series demos — a preview of what would become the Copilot+ PC narrative a year later. The Snapdragon X Elite’s raw efficiency numbers were drawing crowds at the booth. MediaTek’s Kompanio 840 for Chromebooks and its expanding PC ambitions also featured prominently.

On the peripherals side, ASUS, MSI, and Gigabyte all showed AI-enhanced monitors and gaming gear. The theme was consistent: AI is no longer a cloud feature — it’s coming to every device in your setup.
