MWC 2023 Mobile World Congress Barcelona

Mobile World Congress 2023 opens in Barcelona with a packed agenda and a clear theme: AI, 5G, and the next generation of connected devices. After returning to full attendance in 2022, MWC is back stronger than ever with over 88,000 attendees expected across four days at Fira Gran Via.

Qualcomm’s keynote set the tone: the Snapdragon X70 modem is now powering the world’s fastest 5G connections, with demonstrated speeds exceeding 10Gbps in mmWave scenarios. On the device side, the brand-new Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 was unveiled for the premium mid-range segment, bringing flagship-tier AI and camera capabilities to the $400-600 price bracket.

Samsung showed off its latest foldable concepts. Sony announced the Xperia 1 V with a new Exmor T sensor. Xiaomi brought its 13 series to Europe officially, confirming availability from March. Honor launched the Magic5 Pro with a 50MP periscope telephoto. And Nokia, ever-present at MWC, showcased its 5G infrastructure roadmap.

MWC 2023 feels like the mobile industry exhaling after a difficult few years. The pipeline is full and innovation is back.
