Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event is confirmed for February 1, 2023 in San Francisco — and all signs point to the Galaxy S23 series being the centrepiece. With global Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 confirmed across all models and a customised ‘For Galaxy’ variant running at higher clock speeds, the S23 lineup is shaping up to be Samsung’s strongest year yet.
Leaks suggest the Galaxy S23 Ultra will retain the integrated S Pen and 200MP main sensor, bumping up to a new Sony ISOCELL HP2 for better detail rendering. The telephoto system reportedly sees an upgrade from 10MP to 12MP across both zoom lenses, with improved OIS for more stable shots.
The base S23 and S23+ are expected to maintain their compact premium positioning, gaining the camera improvements without radical redesigns. Battery capacities are slightly larger across the range, and Qualcomm’s X70 modem promises faster 5G with improved mmWave efficiency.
February 1 can’t come soon enough. The S23 Ultra in particular looks set to be the Android flagship benchmark of H1 2023.
